Teresiah is an 86-year-old widow from Kenya. Even with a challenging medical condition, she still sports a beautiful smile. She shares that her husband passed away many years ago. Since then, she has taken care of her family of eight children, all of whom are now grown and have families of their own. The family land has already been divided among the children, and most of them now work on their small farms and keep livestock to sustain themselves. One of her daughters, who also received a piece of land, has built a few rental houses, and also now supports her mother.
Two days ago, Teresiah slipped outside her house and landed on her left leg, injuring it. She was brought to our medical partner’s care center, Nazareth Hospital, where an X-ray revealed a fracture on her shinbone.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On December 4th, Teresiah will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. With treatment, Teresiah will no longer experience pain and will regain the ability to use her leg. Now, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,048 to fund this procedure.
Teresiah says: “I am old, but God has blessed me. I can take care of myself and give guidance to my children. I will be very grateful if assisted, so that my leg can receive the treatment it needs. I hope to be able to walk again soon.”
