Meet Taisha, an adorable 11-month-old girl. Taisha lives with her mother in the Haitian countryside.
When Taisha was four months old, her mother took her to the local hospital after noticing Taisha had flu-like symptoms and a swelled head. After several months, doctors referred Taisha to a larger hospital in the city where she could receive an official diagnosis and better care. Doctors diagnosed Taisha with hydrocephalus, a condition where there is excess fluid in the brain. Taisha is often sick and faces complications if her hydrocephalus is not treated.
Taisha’s mother looks forward to resuming school once her daughter is healthy so she can better care for Taisha. For $1,260, doctors can perform surgery on Taisha’s skull to allow the excess fluid to drain and prevent future buildup. With surgery, Taisha will no longer face seizures and other serious complications from hydrocephalus. Taisha’s mother and extended family do not have the means to fund the treatment Taisha needs. Let’s help Taisha receive surgery so she can grow strong and healthy!
