Dolores is a gentle Kaqchikel speaking woman from a rural community where our medical partner, Wuqu’ Kawok is the primary source of healthcare. For many years, Dolores has dealt with several nodules on her thyroid gland. They are causing her serious pain and making it impossible for her to swallow properly.
Thankfully, the nodules on Dolores’ thyroid gland are not severe enough to become a thyroid cancer, but she still needs surgery to remove the painful nodules. Throughout the years, Dolores’s pain has gradually worsened. Now, “she is growing desperate” for medical treatment.
Dolores is unable to afford the surgery needed to remove the nodules on her thyroid gland. For $1,000, we can fund Dolores’s surgery so she won’t have to endure this pain anymore!

Dolores received surgery to remove painful nodules on her thyroid gland.
Treatment was delayed because Dolores had several decaying teeth that needed to be removed before the operation. Doctors were able to operate a few weeks ago and she is recovering well at home. The growth was completely removed and fortunately, was found to be benign.
Before her surgery, Dolores was ashamed of the growth which was disfiguring and embarrassing. She expressed gratitude and relief after the operation:”Thanks to you all for lending a hand,” she told our medical partner.
