Cheyna is a bright and determined 16-year-old from Cambodia. He gets good grades in school, and when he finishes his education he wants to work at a non-profit organization with children.
Cheyna is worried that his grades might start suffering, however, because of his recent absences from school. Cheyna is suffering from a burn contracture (an area of tight, thick, and immobile skin that develops after a severe burn) on his foot. As a result, Cheyna is unable to find shoes that fit him properly and experiences pain while walking.
Cheyna is from a very remote area near Cambodia’s border with Laos. He traveled 14 hours by van to seek treatment at Children’s Surgical Centre. Cheyna is extremely distressed about his education and hopes to get the treatment he needs to keep up in school and achieve his dreams!
