Balingira is a 78-year-old man from Uganda, the father of six children. He and his wife grow food and sell the surplus to buy other necessities.
In 2015, Baligira developed a swelling in his groin. He went to a hospital, where he was diagnosed with a bilateral hydrocele. He was advised to undergo surgery, but he could not afford treatment.
Baligira’s hydrocele causes him severe pain and general weakness. Fortunately, he visited our medical partner’s care center, Holy Family Virika Hospital. He is scheduled to undergo a repair surgery on December 7. Doctors will drain the excess fluid from his groin, alleviating his pain. For $185, we can fund this procedure.
“I hope to continue working in my gardens after surgery,” Baligira says.

Baligira underwent hydrocele repair surgery.
Baligira’s hydrocele repair was a success. He is no longer at risk of strangulation or of getting infections. After recovery he will feel comfortable and will be able to do any work.
He says, “After recovery I will be able to work in my gardens and get more food for my family. Indeed l am going to spread the news about Watsi. What they have done for me is beyond my expectation. I pray for all the people who have paid for my surgery. May the good lord bless them.”
