Romonea is a 10-year-old girl from Prey Veng province, Cambodia. She lives with her grandmother and younger sister while her parents work in the city as sales staff for a beverage company. She is currently in the fifth grade and enjoys reading and writing Khmer. She dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. Romonea was born with a right leg length discrepancy, and the condition has gradually worsened as she has grown older. Because of the difference in leg length, she experiences difficulty walking and pain when walking long distances, which affects her daily activities and mobility at school and home. In the past, her mother brought her to a government hospital, where doctors recommended that she seek further treatment at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. On May 8th, Romonea will undergo surgery to help improve her leg alignment and mobility. Her family needs help raising $582 to fund her surgery and care. Romonea's mother said, “My greatest hope is to see my daughter walk comfortably without pain and have a better future. I want her to be able to go to school, play happily, and live like other children her age.”

Adama is a three-year-old boy from Mali. He is the seventh child and only son in his family. His mother is a homemaker, and his father, unfortunately, is ill, with limited opportunities to work and support the family. Adama often spends time with his grandmother as a caretaker in their large family. About a month ago, Adama began to experience swelling in a sensitive area, often accompanied by pain and a lack of appetite that alarmed his grandmother. His troubling symptoms prompted the family to seek medical attention at the local community health center. There, Adama was diagnosed with a right inguinal-scrotal hernia, requiring surgery. Fortunately, Adama is now scheduled to undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center, Centre de Santé de Référence, on June 29th. Our medical partner, Muso, is requesting $611 to fund his surgery. Upon completion, Adama should be able to live a healthier life without further complications to his mobility or fertility. Adama's parents are expecting their son to heal well after his treatment. "We are hopeful that treatment will allow him to live a good life. Thank you for being so helpful," shared his parents.

Vichet is an 18-year-old university student from Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia. He is currently living in Phnom Penh for the first year of his studies. His parents work as grocery sellers back home and take care of his younger sister. Vichet is the middle child of three siblings. His older brother is also a university student in his second year, and his younger sister is in first grade. Vichet enjoys playing volleyball with friends and listening to music in his free time. In 2024, Vichet was involved in a motor vehicle accident that resulted in a fracture of his right femur. Following the accident in February 2024, he underwent surgery at a private clinic in Kampong Speu, where a nail was inserted into his right femur to stabilize the fracture. Vichet is currently experiencing persistent pain and stiffness in his right thigh, especially during walking and prolonged physical activity, from the hardware. This limits his mobility, reduces his comfort in daily life, and affects his ability to participate fully in university and sports activities. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. On May 13th, Vichet will undergo a hardware removal procedure. CSC is requesting $278 to cover the cost of Vichet's care. Removal of the hardware is expected to reduce his pain and stiffness, improve mobility, and allow him to return to normal walking and daily activities with greater comfort and confidence. Vichet said, “I hope this surgery will relieve the pain and stiffness in my leg, so I can walk comfortably again and return to my normal daily activities.”
