Given is a three-year-old boy from Uganda. His mother is a single parent who engages in small-scale farming to support his basic needs.
Given has generally been an active child, although he has been experiencing episodes of inguinal swelling associated with on-and-off pain. He has a hernia and needs surgery to address his symptoms.
Fortunately, on June 2nd, Given will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center, Rushoroza Hospital. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $170 to fund Given’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Given’s mother says, “It pains me to watch my little son cry every day because of pain when I have no money to help him. I humbly appeal to donors to support my child so that he can receive surgery and live a healthy life like other children. Your support will restore hope to my family and save my son’s future.”

Given had a successful hernia repair surgery as planned at Rushoroza Hospital on June 3rd. There were no complications and he received all the post-operative medical treatment and services. He spent a few days in the hospital and was discharged home in good health. He was advised to return for review after two weeks. His parents pray for him to remain stable and return to his normal life so he can continue with his education.
Given’s mother says, “I am actually feeling that this condition that was taking my son’s life is now healed. Thank you for treating him through surgery and for the good response towards saving him. Many thanks to the AMH SAFE program for the merciful hands in as far as people’s health is concerned.”
