Nataly is a student from Bolivia. She is an only child and lives in La Paz with her mother who works as a housekeeper in a hotel. Nataly is in the 9th grade and likes studying math and engineering. She dreams of pursuing a career in aeronautics.
Nataly has patent ductus arteriosus, a heart condition where a hole exists between two major blood vessels next to the heart and causes blood to leak through the hole. This condition leaves her dizzy and weak.
On June 5th, she will undergo cardiac surgery at our medical partner’s care center, Hospital del Niño Dr. Ovidio Aliaga Uría. During surgery, surgeons will close the hole so that blood can no longer leak through it. After surgery, Nataly will have improved activity endurance.
Nataly’s family needs help to fund the costs of cardiac care and surgery. The $1,500 requested by our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, covers cardiac exams and diagnostics, surgical costs, follow-up care, and medications.
Nataly shared, “I am excited to have this surgery so that I can feel normal and have energy and strength!”
