Vanna is a 29-year-old woman. She's single and works in a local restaurant, taking carry-out orders for customers. She enjoys the work because she can practice her English and is learning about different foods.
Her job is also hard for her because since she was 10 years old, she has had frequent ear discharge and fevers. For the past three months, she has lost her hearing in her left ear. She finds that she cannot communicate clearly with other people now, which make it almost impossible to do her job well.
Vanna traveled to our medical partner's care center hoping to receive treatment. On January 17th, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $464 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
She told us she was hoping that surgery would be a big help for her. She said, "I hope to stop having ear infections and improve my hearing so I can do well at work."
