Ariel is a one-month-old baby boy from Arusha Region in Tanzania. He was brought to Kafika House by his parents after being referred through a local church, where the pastor learned about Ariel’s condition and guided the family to seek specialized care. His mother, a schoolteacher, and his father, a small businessman, were quick to seek medical attention after noticing the deformity, understanding the importance of early intervention. Despite their busy responsibilities, they have prioritized Ariel’s health and future mobility.
Ariel was diagnosed with a right clubfoot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscle to the bones are shorter than usual, and this will cause Ariel difficulty walking and even wearing shoes as he grows.
Fortunately, Ariel’s family was able to seek care at our medical partner’s care center, Kafika House. Surgeons will begin clubfoot treatment on January 29th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Ariel’s clubfoot repair. After treatment, he will have an excellent chance of achieving normal foot alignment and developing the ability to stand, walk, and run like other children his age.
Ariel’s mother says, “I hope the right treatment will prevent long-term disability and ensure he grows up confident, free from any physical limitations.”
