Nosim is a 10-month-old girl from Tanzania. She lives with her parents and is the only child in the family. Her father is a farmer who depends on seasonal agriculture to support the household.
Nosim has clubfoot on her right foot. When she was born, her mother noticed that her right foot was bending inward, now making it difficult for her to place her foot properly when trying to stand or crawl. Concerned about her daughter’s development, the family sought medical advice and was referred for specialized care. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscle to the bones are shorter than usual, and this causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes.
Fortunately, Nosim’s family traveled to visit our medical partner’s care center, Kafika House. Surgeons will begin clubfoot treatment on March 9th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Nosim’s clubfoot repair. After treatment, she will be able to grow up with normal feet, walk normally, and participate in everyday childhood activities without limitations.
Nosim’s mother says, “My hope is to see my daughter walk confidently and grow up without this condition holding her back.”
