Ei is a 13-year-old girl from Burma. She lives with her father, two older sisters, and one older brother in Phop Phra District, Tak Province, Thailand. Ei’s father and all her siblings work as day labourers in the corn fields near their village, while Ei helps with the family’s daily household chores. Her mother passed away in March 2026. In her free time, Ei enjoys playing with her friends and helping with the family’s daily responsibilities. On the 23rd of June, 2026, Ei had intense lower abdominal pain, vomiting, and a fever. She went to the local clinic near her village, where she underwent another physical examination and was diagnosed with appendicitis by the nurse. She was referred to our medical partner's care center, Mae Sot General Hospital, for surgery and further care. On June 25th, Ei will undergo an appendectomy. Our medical partner, Burma Medical Children Fund (BCMF), is asking for help in raising $1,500 for her procedure and care. After recovery, Ei should be able to return to her daily activities and support her family. Ei’s father expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much to this organisation [HFA-BCMF] and the donors for your kindness in supporting my youngest daughter’s treatment costs. We feel immense happiness because of your help. We could not afford her surgery, as our family can only meet daily needs if we work every day. Ran is a 35-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. He lives in Kampong Speu Province with his wife, who works in a garment factory. They have two children: one studying in Grade 3 and a 11-month-old baby. He helps support the family through construction work and enjoys planting vegetables around his home during his free time. On the 4th of May 2026, Ran was involved in a motorcycle-versus-car accident, which resulted in a right knee injury. Following the accident, he initially sought traditional treatment, but his symptoms persisted and worsened over time. He experiences persistent pain and stiffness in his right knee, making it difficult to walk comfortably. The condition limits his mobility and affects his ability to perform heavy physical work and daily activities. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On May 25th, Ran will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will help reduce pain and stiffness in the knee, improve joint function, and restore mobility so he can walk more comfortably and return to work and daily life. Ran can contribute $100, but needs help raising $500 more to fund his treatment and care. Ran said, “After the surgery, I hope that the pain will improve with treatment. I am hopeful that with proper care, I will be able to walk comfortably again and return to my daily activities.”

Gabriel is 61 years old and a father of four from Malawi. Gabriel's passion is farming; it is something that has shaped his life and something he has always been proud to pass on to his children. Gabriel grows maize and groundnuts each farming season. He makes a point of involving his children in the work, teaching them the skills and knowledge he has gained over the years. For about six years, Gabriel has had a left inguinal hernia. His condition became significantly worse in September 2026 when he began experiencing abdominal pain, struggled to walk properly, and found it difficult to eat. As the symptoms intensified, he became increasingly unable to carry out his farming activities. Gabriel is scheduled for a hernia repair with mesh surgery at our medical partner's care center, Nkhoma Hospital, on November 3rd. Gabriel needs your help to raise $500 to fund his procedure and care. Gabriel shares, “Farming is what I know and what I have always loved doing. I enjoy working in my fields and teaching my children how to farm, but this illness has made it difficult for me to do even the simplest tasks. My family has tried its best to raise money for my surgery, but we cannot manage the full cost. I am appealing for assistance so that I can receive treatment, recover, and return to my farm and the life I enjoyed before.”
