Zoila is a K’ichee’ speaking Maya woman from Guatemala. Zoila’s cultural roots are deep and strong, but they make it difficult for her to navigate the Spanish-language healthcare system. This, compounded by the fact that Zoila is a subsistence farmer without a cash income, makes it extremely difficult for her to access medical care.
Zoila recently attended a cervical cancer screening program at Wuqu’ Kawoq. Doctors diagnosed her with a precancerous cervical lesion. The lesion is not causing any symptoms right now, but if it is not treated it will progress to cervical cancer.
For just $125, doctors at Wuqu’ Kawoq can remove Zoila’s lesion and help her sidestep a potentially life-threatening disease. Let’s chip in to make sure Zoila gets the care she needs!
