Set is a 70-year-old woman from Kampong Chhnang province in Cambodia. A former rice farmer, she has five daughters, four sons, and 20 grandchildren. Set's husband passed away five years ago, and she currently lives with her youngest daughter, who sells vegetables. Set's favorite thing to do is visit the pagoda. About two years ago, Set developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her to experience itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. Set has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she cannot go places on her own. When Set learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On August 10th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Set contributed a $25 co-pay toward her care and is requesting assistance to raise $238 more to fund her treatment. Set shared her hopes that, after surgery, her vision will improve so she can easily travel to distant places, visit the pagoda, and recognize her relatives clearly.

Mey Ching is six years old and a first-grader from Cambodia. She is the youngest of three children and lives with her parents and siblings in Koh Kong. Her father is a fisherman, while her mother sells groceries. She enjoys reading and writing Khmer and playing hide-and-seek with her friends in the village. Her favorite foods are sour fish soup and fried vegetables. For the past three years, Mey Ching has been experiencing a persistent daily cough, episodes of fever and throat pain, frequent snoring at night, and difficulty swallowing. Her ongoing throat problems make swallowing uncomfortable and disturb her sleep because of frequent snoring. The recurring symptoms can also make it harder for her to feel comfortable and fully enjoy school and activities with her friends. Mey Ching was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause his symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $345 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Mey Ching, which is scheduled to take place on September 8th. Surgeons will remove his tonsils and adenoids, hopefully relieving Mey Ching of his symptoms and helping him live much more comfortably. Mey Ching's mother said, “I hope the surgery will help my daughter breathe, swallow, and sleep better. I want her to feel healthy and free from these ongoing throat problems.”

Len is a 65-year-old rubber farmer from Cambodia. She lives with her niece, who also works as a rubber farmer. In her free time, she enjoys caring for her niece's children and helping her niece with housework. On August 30th, 2026, Len was riding a motorcycle when it hit a dog, causing her to fall and fracture her left wrist. An X-ray confirmed a closed Barton fracture of the left distal radius. The fracture has caused pain, swelling, and stiffness in her left wrist, making it difficult for her to use her hand normally. These limitations also make it harder for her to carry out farming and household activities. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On September 2nd, Len will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will stabilize and repair her fractured left wrist, helping reduce pain and restore movement and function in her hand. She can contribute $100, but needs help raising $500 more to fund her procedure and care. Len said, “I hope the surgery will help repair my wrist, reduce the pain and swelling, and allow me to use my hand normally again. I want to recover well so I can return to farming and continue taking care of my daily responsibilities.”
