This is 42-year-old Rosemary from Kenya. She’s married and has three children – the youngest is just three-years-old. “Rosemary and her husband are peasant farmers, earning very little which is barely enough to meet their basic needs,” African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF) tells us.
For the last three months Rosemary has experienced heavy menstrual bleeding. It has increased over time and she is now anemic. “Rosemary cannot even walk around because of the dizziness,” AMHF says.
Clinicians have determined that Rosemary has uterine fibroids. She’s already been transfused two pints of blood due to her condition at this time. They have recommended a total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH) to ensure that Rosemary will come back to full health.
“We expect that after a TAH, Rosemary will be relieved from bleeding and recover from anaemia,” they write. $790 would cover the cost of Rosemary’s care and this procedure.
“I am still young and my children need me as they grow,” says Rosemary. I am hoping that I can get help so that I will be well and go back home to take care of my family.”
Let’s come together and ensure that Rosemary can regain her full strength to be there for her family in the way she’d like to be.
