Isaack is a three-year-old boy from Tanzania. He lives with both his parents and two siblings. His father works as a motorcycle driver to earn a daily income, while his mother runs a small business to help support the family.
Isaack was diagnosed with genu valgus. His legs started to bend as he grew and became more active. Several factors can cause this condition, including growth disorders, vitamin deficiencies, or excessive fluoride in contaminated drinking water. As a result, the knees can be angled inwards or outwards, making it difficult to walk and may cause long-term joint damage. Although Isaack is still too young to attend school, his parents have already begun worrying about his future. The condition has made walking uncomfortable and raised concerns about how it will affect his ability to play, attend school, and grow confidently like other children. His parents are hopeful that through proper surgical intervention, Isaack will grow into an active and healthy child, able to walk, learn, and enjoy childhood without limitations.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $810 to fund Isaack’s treatment. The procedure is scheduled for January 19th at our medical partner’s care center, Kafika House. Treatment will hopefully restore Isaack’s mobility, allow him to participate in a variety of activities, and greatly decrease his risk of future complications.
Isaack’s mother says, “This has been a great shock to us, and all we can do is hope that he will not have to grow up with this condition, as it could affect him in many ways and make it difficult for him to live a comfortable life.”
