Favour is a confident and curious six-year-old boy from Uganda. When his mother brought him to the hospital for a medical review, he was curious about items in the exam room, especially the computer, which he called a ‘writing television’. He requested to use it and pressed a button, which brought a lot of joy to his face! Favour is the third born child in a family of four children. He goes to primary school, and dreams of one day becoming an engineer. Both his parents work as small-scale farmers. They shared that the joy Favour and his siblings bring to their life motivates them to work hard so they can have a bright future ahead.
For about a year now, Favour has had a hydrocele, which is a swelling in a sensitive area. At first, his parents thought that it would go away on it’s own, but it got worse. Presently, he experiences much pain and discomfort while passing urine, sitting, standing or walking. Even though he likes playing football, because of this condition, he is no longer as playful.
Favour was brought to Karoli Lwanga Hospital Nyakibale, where he was examined, and a hydrocele repair surgery recommended. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $146 to fund Favour’s surgery, which is scheduled for August 4th. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Favour’s mother says, “It will be the greatest blessing we’ve had this year seeing our son back on his feet. He had always loved school, but because of the pain, he had even lost interest lately. As parents we are concerned, but are constrained financially. We kindly appeal to you for support.”
