Wabi is a four-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He lives with his mother, a low-wage worker, and his two siblings.
Three years ago, Wabi started to experience neck pain, snoring, difficulty in swallowing and obstructive sleep, which has leaves him tired and irritable. He is tired often, which hinders his ability to play and interact with other children, affecting his social development. Wabi was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils, which, if not treated, will cause his symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time.
Our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital, is requesting $700 to fund a tonsillectomy for Wabi, which is scheduled to take place on August 20th. Surgeons will remove his tonsils, hopefully relieving Wabi of his symptoms and helping him live more comfortably.
Wabi’s mother says: “All a mother can wish for is that life will be gentle with her child. I just wish to see him with a genuine smile on his face - happy, healthy, and free to play without a single care in the world.”
