Domitiler, who is 42 years old, lives in Dithini, in Machakos County, Kenya. She is the ninth child in a family of twelve children. She is not employed, but does small-scale farming at her parents’ farm.
About two months ago, Domitiler began to experience troubling symptoms, including difficulty swallowing. At the same time, her sister, who is a nurse, noticed that her neck was swollen. Domitiler was diagnosed with multinodular goiter, for which she needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Domitiler receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on July 2nd at Nazareth Hospital, during which surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $633, and Domitiler and her family need your help raising the money.
“I am so worried about this swelling. I seek help so that I can be well and be able to continue with my normal life,” said Domitiler.
