Bros is a 57-year-old man from Cambodia. He grows rice and other crops for a living. He is married and has two daughters. He lives with his wife, who is also a farmer, and his two children, who are students. In his free time, Bros enjoys going for walks around his fields to check on his rice and crops. About six months ago, Bros developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so he is not able to go places on his own. When Bros learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On July 2nd, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $263 procedure. Bros said, "I hope that after my cataract surgery, my eyesight will improve so that I can return to growing rice, vegetables, and other crops around my house. I also look forward to traveling to places farther away without having to worry about my eyesight anymore."

Mekdes is a young mother from Ethiopia. At just 22, this single mother is the heart and soul of her small family, working hard to build a life for herself and her four-year-old child. She runs a small street-side stall selling fried chips, and this humble business is their only source of income. Mekdes has been fighting chronic tonsillitis for four years. Because her business is outdoors and requires her to be on her feet all day, these frequent, painful throat infections make it incredibly difficult for her to work. When she is too sick to stand at her stall, she loses the income they desperately need, creating a constant and exhausting cycle of physical pain and financial worry. Our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital, is requesting $700 to fund a tonsillectomy for Mekdes, which is scheduled to take place on May 23rd. Surgeons will remove her tonsils, hopefully relieving Mekdes of her symptoms and helping her live more comfortably. Mekdes said, "My deepest hope is to finally achieve lasting health and financial security, so I can work consistently without the constant fear that a sudden, painful illness will take away my ability to provide for my child."

Nyi is a 20-year-old young man from Burma. He lives with his grandparents and two younger siblings in Tak Province. Nyi works as seamstress and his grandparents are retired. His younger brother and younger sister are students. His father works in Bangkok to support the family, while his mother lives in the village. In 2025, Nyi started experiencing pain at the site where his heart is located, and also getting tired easily. He went to hospital where he was given some medication and referred to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital. At the hospital, Nyi was advised to undergo an MRI, an imaging procedure that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce images of bodily organs. This scan will hopefully help doctors diagnose his condition and formulate an appropriate treatment plan. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $814 to cover the cost of Nyi's MRI and care, scheduled for May 19th. Nyi said, "I am unable to do hard jobs that require carrying anything heavy. If I do, I felt tired and chest pain. Thank you for your support."
