Thi Thoeng is a 73-year-old woman with one daughter and two grandchildren. She likes to watch the news on TV and visit relatives.
Three years ago, Thi Thoeng developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurred vision and headaches. She has difficulty seeing things clearly and working. She worries about going blind.
When Thi Thoeng learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On November 9, doctors performed a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, Thi Thoeng will be able to see clearly again. Now, she needs help to fund this $292 procedure.
“I want to be able to do housework easily, like clean around my home and cook for my family,” she says. “I want to be able to go places by myself.”
