Meet Sorphors, a 30-year-old teacher from Cambodia. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), shares that Sorphors “spends her free time helping her parents with their work at home. She also enjoys reading books and researching new lessons for her students.” As a dedicated teacher, Sorphors spends much of her time at the local primary school.
Sorphors was badly injured in a traffic accident last year. She was riding a motorcycle when a car hit her, fracturing her right knee. Sorphors shared in her pre-operative interview: “I can’t walk and my leg is painful.” To seek treatment, she has travelled for three hours with her sister to reach CSC.
With $405 in funding, Sorphors can receive the surgery she needs - an open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) procedure. Funding will cover the cast required to help Sorphor’s leg heal and any hospital care she needs.
“I want to return home and continue to teach my students when I am healed,” Sorphors added.
