Josphine is an 87-year-old mother of nine from Kenya. She has unfortunately lost her husband and two of her children and now lives with her daughter at home. Josphine enjoys participating in church, as her participation makes her feel greatly connected to her faith, however her impaired hearing has prevented Josphine from achieving her prior level of engagement.
Josphine’s hearing loss began in 2016 and has increased in intensity over time to the point where she can now no longer perceive sound with much clarity. Josphine was then diagnosed with moderate sensorineural hearing loss and was told that she would need hearing aids. If left untreated, Josphine’s auditory problems will only worsen over time.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $712 to cover the expenses associated with Josphine’s hearing aids. She is scheduled to receive them on June 20 and will hopefully achieve the positive results that she is hoping for.
“I want to be active in church and at least hear what the priest says. I also want to improve my activeness in social gatherings,” says Josphine.
