Trizah is a playful seven-year-old girl from Kenya, who loves reading books. She is the second-born child in a family of two children. Accompanied to hospital by her mother, the two traveled four hours to seek care at AIC CURE Hospital. “I look forward to seeing my daughter’s legs corrected, so that she can walk and play freely like other children,” her mother shared. Trizah’s mother is a single parent who works at a cereal shop to provide for her family.
Trizah was diagnosed with Blount’s disease, a developmental growth disorder of the shin bone that causes a severe, progressive bowlegged appearance in children. Her mother began seeking medical help when Trizah was just one week old and continued taking her to clinic appointments until she was nine months old. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the clinic visits stopped.
As Trizah continued to grow, her condition gradually worsened. In 2024, her mother heard about a mobile clinic near their home for children with physical challenges and brought her there. At the clinic, Trizah was assessed and scheduled for surgery. The treatment will have a significant impact on her life by straightening her legs to improve her mobility. It will also boost her confidence and self-esteem, allowing her to participate more freely in activities with other children. For Trizah’s mother, seeing her daughter walk, play, and grow with greater confidence will be a dream come true.
Trizah is scheduled to undergo this surgery on September 1st. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,224 to cover the cost of Trizah’s procedure and care.
Her mother shared, “I pray that my daughter will get better, and be able to walk like other children.”
