Catherine is a mother of six from Uganda. She is married to a police officer who provides minimal support because he has a big family, leaving Catherine to struggle to meet her family’s basic needs while caring for her children.
For over ten years, Catherine has had an epigastric hernia. She came to the hospital complaining of persistent abdominal pain and a large swelling in the epigastric region. The swelling initially appeared occasionally and gradually increased in size. Over the past eight months, however, it has grown significantly larger and has become extremely painful, especially when she is eating or trying to sleep.
Catherine sought treatment at a nearby clinic but experienced no improvement. She also visited herbalists in search of relief, but unfortunately, her condition did not improve. Fortunately, on March 19th, she will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center, Uganda Martyr’s Ibanda Hospital.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $201 to fund Catherine’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow her to live more comfortably.
Catherine says, “I am very grateful to the doctor and the entire medical team at Ibanda Hospital for the care, compassion, and support they have shown me. However, I cannot afford the funds required for my operation. I humbly appeal for your support so that I may be relieved from this illness. I sincerely hope my request will be considered. After the operation, I will continue practicing farming and work hard to support my family and care for my children.”
