Chandara is a 31-year-old man from Cambodia. He lives with his wife in a small village about 90 minutes outside Phnom Penh. They have three sons. His wife sells fruit outside their home. Before his accident, Chandara was working as a water deliveryman. Currently, he helps his wife sell fruit and cares for their young son. In the early morning, he enjoys fishing with his sons to catch daily meals.
In 2016, Chandara was in a traffic accident and fractured his right leg. He had surgery at a local hospital with a metal nail to support healing, but after eight years, he still struggles to walk without assistance and has numbness, especially when he tries to get up. He has been unable to hold a job, and they rely on his wife’s job to support the family.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help. On March 14th, Chandara will undergo a hardware removal procedure that will remove the hardware to help him walk easily again. Chandara can contribute $100 but needs help to raise $204 more to fund his procedure and care.
Chandara is hopeful and shared: “I hope that after the hardware is removed, I can walk better and find a job soon.”
