Angelita is a 51-year-old woman from the Philippines. She spends most of her time caring for her grandchild, which brings her joy. Her eldest daughter works at a golf facility, while her second-youngest daughter works as a virtual assistant. Her husband takes on occasional construction jobs but cannot work regularly due to his history of tuberculosis.
Seventeen years ago, Angelita began to experience troubling symptoms, including difficulty eating and regular discomfort when sleeping. She was diagnosed with multinodular non-toxic goiter. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), is helping Angelita receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on October 30th, where surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. A portion of the cost of her treatment is being supported by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and WSFP is asking for help raising the remaining $873 to cover the cost of Angelita’s procedure and care.
Angelita shared, “My heart is grateful for this opportunity. Thank you to Watsi for making this happen. I hope more families will receive the same compassion, support, and renewed hope that my family and I have experienced.”
