Maly is a 56-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She lives with her elderly mother, and grows rice for a living. In her free time, Maly enjoys planting vegetables around her home. About six years ago, Maly was involved in a motorcycle accident, causing a severe injury to her right leg. She underwent several procedures, but currently her right ankle remains fused in an equinus position, causing pain in her right toes, and making it difficult to put weight on her foot. She currently walks in crutches, and has difficulty moving around independently. When Maly learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for 4 hours seeking treatment. On September 8th, surgeons at CSC will perform a joint arthrodesis procedure to improve the position and stability of her foot, reduce pain, and help her walk more comfortably. Maly is able to contribute towards the cost of her treatment, but needs help raising $536 more to fund the procedure. She says, “I hope this surgery will reduce the pain in my right foot and help me walk more comfortably, without depending so much on crutches. I wish to be able to move around more independently, and return to my daily activities.”

Chantha is a 15-year-old girl from Cambodia. She lives in Kampong Chhnang Province with her parents, who work as rice farmers and factory workers. She is the eldest of two children and is in the ninth grade. She enjoys playing football with her friends, loves studying Khmer literature, and hopes to become a police officer in the future. When she was 6 years old, Chantha had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the eardrum, in her right ear to perforate. For this reason, Chantha experiences right ear pain, repeated ear discharge, ringing in the ear (tinnitus), and hearing loss. Her symptoms became much worse after water entered her ear during the Khmer New Year 2026. The chronic ear infection and hearing loss make it difficult for her to hear clearly in daily life and at school. The repeated pain and discharge also affect her comfort and confidence. Chantha traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On July 14th, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her right ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $363 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care. Chantha said, “I’m happy to finally have the opportunity for surgery. I hope my ear will heal well, my hearing will improve, and I can leave this problem behind and move forward with confidence.”

Sado is a two-year-old boy and the tenth-born child in a family of 11 children. His father is a maize farmer who works hard to provide for the family. Sado has a clubfoot on the left foot, a condition in which the foot is twisted inward and downward. This condition has made it difficult for him to walk comfortably and has prevented him from wearing regular shoes. As he grows, these challenges could only get worse, without timely and appropriate treatment. Sado’s father learned about our medical partner's care center, Kafika House, and brought Sado to an outreach clinic, where he was assessed and enrolled for treatment. Fortunately, Sado has been scheduled to begin clubfoot treatment on August 11th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Sado's clubfoot repair. After treatment, Sado has a promising opportunity to walk more comfortably and wear normal shoes with confidence. This treatment will give him greater freedom and mobility, allowing him to enjoy his childhood and participate more fully in everyday activities.. Sado's father says, “I am grateful that Sado can receive treatment. I hope he will soon walk comfortably and play like other children.”
