Gayatra is in danger of permanent disability because of an accident that happened 18 years ago. When she was just three years old, Gayatra fell off of a balcony and fractured her foot. Her family hoped she’d be able to travel to Kathmandu for surgery, but they couldn’t afford the associated costs, and her injury went untreated.
Today, Gayatra is living with a contracture deformity, a stiffening of the ligature, in her right foot. This has made it difficult for Gayatra to do basic things, like walk and perform household chores.
Gayatra needs surgery even more now than she did 18 years ago. With our $1,415, she’ll receive treatment that will improve her mobility and prevent permanent disability. Post-recovery, Gayatra will be able to stand, walk, and complete household work with increased ease.

Gayatra is unfortunately not going to receive the treatment you funded, so we've just sent you a gift card in the amount of your donation.
Gayatra was scheduled to have surgery to correct a foot fracture from an accident which happened 18 years ago so that she could finally have full mobility.
“Gayatra’s surgery was postponed to be done during a surgical camp in Achham, where she lives,” our medical partner tells us. “But because Gayatra is pregnant now, the surgeon and Gayatra decided it is medically best to have the surgery after the child is a little older because Gayatra will need constant follow-up and physiotherapy. It will be very difficult for the mother to nurse her child as well as undergo treatment in a far-away place.”
We are committed to transparently reporting all patient outcomes to you, so it’s important to us that you decide where your money goes next.
We’ve just emailed you a Watsi gift card for the same amount as your donation to Gayatra. We’d love for you to use this gift card to support another Watsi patient of your choice. But if you do not want to reallocate your donation to another patient, we’ll gladly refund your contribution.
Thanks again for supporting Watsi patients, we can’t tell you how much we appreciate it.
