Honest is a 27-year-old father of two from Uganda. He works as a small-scale farmer, alongside his wife of six years. The family lives in a single-room mud house for shelter.
Honest recalls having an itchy spot on his back in 2020, which developed into a small, painless swelling. He tried using local herbs to reduce the swelling, but it instead got larger and painful, to an extent that he could not continue with his farming work. He visited several health clinics, but did not get much help, and was advised to seek care in a larger facility.
At Rushoroza Hospital, Honest was examined and a mass excision surgery was recommended. However, he can hardly afford the surgery expenses. He continues to experience significant pain and discomfort from the large mass, especially when lying on his back, which affects his sleep.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. On March 10th, surgeons at Rushoroza Hospital will remove the mass. Now, Honest needs help to raise $145 to fund this procedure.
Honest says, “ I hope to get well through surgery, so that I am able to resume work and take care of my family. I have suffered too much, and I find it very hard to practice farming at the moment.”
