Stella is a 52-year-old woman from Uganda. She is a widow who has endured several painful experiences in her life. She lost her only child just one week after delivery, and her husband passed away two years ago. Since then, she has been left without immediate family support and has become dependent on her sister, who cares for her despite having very limited resources.
Seven months ago, Stella began to experience troubling symptoms, including fever and vomiting. Physicians recommend a laparotomy, which is a surgery that opens up the abdominal cavity to treat her condition.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $279 to fund Stella’s surgery. On October 29th, she will undergo surgery, and once completed, this procedure will hopefully greatly improve her quality of life.
Stella’s sister says, “I am deeply grateful to the doctors and medical team at Ibanda Hospital for caring for my sister. Since she lost her husband and only child, I have been taking care of her despite our difficult financial situation. I am worried because I do not have the money needed for her stoma. I humbly appeal to the donors to support my sister by paying for her operation. I will keep caring for my sister while practicing farming.”
