Bonny is a 46-year-old woman from Uganda. She is the third-born of 10, a mother, and lost both her parents earlier this year. After separating from her husband, she returned to her parents’ home, where she has continued to rebuild her life despite the challenges she’s faced.
Bonny completed sixth grade but was unable to continue her education due to a lack of funding. She later acquired tailoring skills, hoping to use them to earn an income and become financially independent. Unfortunately, she rarely receives customers in her village, making it difficult for her to generate enough income to meet her daily needs.
For approximately ten years, Bonny has had an umbilical hernia. Initially, she experienced intermittent pain; however, since the beginning of October, 2026, the pain has become persistent, causing her discomfort when she walks, sits, and sleeps. As the pain continued to worsen, Bonny sought treatment at the nearest clinic in an attempt to relieve her discomfort. Unfortunately, her condition did not improve. When the pain became unbearable, her sister advised her to seek specialized care at our medical partner’s care center, Uganda Martyr’s Ibanda Hospital.
On October 27th, Bonny will undergo hernia repair surgery, and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $201 to fund Bonny’s surgery. This procedure will allow her to be able to carry out her work and daily activities with less pain and discomfort.
Bonny says, “I am very grateful to the medical team at Ibanda Hospital for the good reception and encouraging words that my operation will be successful; however, I do not have money for the operation. I request the donor program to support my surgery. After recovering from the surgery, I will continue tailoring and practicing farming to support my child.”
