Heng is a 49-year-old vegetable farmer from Cambodia. She has three sons and one daughter, and enjoys watching television and cooking food for her family.
Four years ago, Heng had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in her left ear to perforate. For this reason, Heng experiences discharge, tinnitus, and hearing loss. She is unable to hear others clearly and cannot communicate well.
Heng traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On December 10th, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
“I hope that my surgery will eliminate my ear infection and I will no longer have any ear discharge,” Heng said.
