Rehema is a seven-year-old student from Tanzania. She is the youngest of four children. Her father is a public transport driver, while her mother has a small vegetable business. Rehema is in second grade and enjoys playing with other children.
Five years ago, Rehema sustained burn injuries when she fell over a pot of hot water and got burned on the left side of her body. Over the years she developed contracture which limits her ability to straighten and use her left hand in her daily life activities.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Rehema receive treatment. On December 13th, surgeons at their care center will perform contracture release surgery and a skin graft to release her elbow, increasing her functionality, and allowing her to carry out her daily life activities without difficulty. Now, she needs $832 to fund this procedure.
Rehema’s father says, “We have really tried to seek treatment for her arm but the cost is too expensive for us to afford. We hope she gets the treatment she needs as soon as possible.”
