Cherry is 20 years old and the only child in her family from the Philippines. Her mother works as a housekeeper, and her stepfather works as a driver in a company. Cherry started working in a fast food restaurant to help her family with their expenses. Cherry enjoys watching movies, studying, and occasionally participating in volleyball games during school events.
One year ago, Cherry started experiencing troubling symptoms, including a persistent feeling of heaviness in her body, fevers, and swelling in her neck. After experiencing shortness of breath, Cherry decided to seek medical attention in December 2024. Cherry was diagnosed with enlarged tonsils, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time.
Our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, is requesting $1,155 to fund a tonsillectomy for Cherry, which is scheduled to take place on April 12th. Surgeons will remove her tonsils, hopefully relieving Cherry of her symptoms and helping her live more comfortably.
Cherry said, “I am truly grateful toward the people and organizations that assist those in need, especially for those who are less fortunate. It is the first time I had experienced such support, and I am overjoyed to know that there are still organizations willing to help.”
