Meet George, a 56-year-old father of eight from rural Uganda. George and his wife are subsistence farmers who grow crops for their own consumption. George also works as a community farm laborer to supplement his family’s income.
George shares with our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, that a painful mass has grown in a sensitive area. George initially treated the mass with medicinal herbs and painkillers, but this failed to control the pain and swelling.
George will undergo a $196 surgical procedure on August 7 to remove the mass. Doctors have recommended this treatment pathway, as it will decrease the chances of the mass turning into a cancerous growth.
George is looking forward to going back to work and playing with his grandchildren. “I thank the donors for supporting my care,” he says.
