San is a 36-year-old who lives with her family in Thailand. She is originally from Burma but moved about 15 years ago to find better work. San’s husband works in construction.
San first noticed some abdominal issues in 2012, when she experienced pain. She visited a clinic, where she was told this pain was due to kidney inflammation and urinary tract infection. Doctors gave her medication, which eased the pain. A month ago, San again experienced abdominal pain. Although she took her medication, the pain continued to increase, and she was unable to eat or drink water.
Currently, San has intense abdominal pain, especially in the pelvic area. She is not able to eat, and walking and sitting have become painful tasks for her. San will be transferred to a hospital to receive a CT scan in order to get a clear diagnosis.
San’s condition means that the family’s oldest daughter now stays at home to take of her sisters and daughter. Her income, which made up a substantial part of the family earnings, has stopped. San says, “I hope to get healthy soon again, so that I can return home to take care of my daughters and granddaughter.”
Watsi is requesting $414 to help fund San’s CT scan, scheduled for August 7.
