On is a rice farmer from Cambodia. She has one daughter and two sons and nine grandchildren. She enjoys watching TV programs and listening to monks pray on the radio.
Two years ago, On developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her partial blindness, tearing, itchiness, irritation, and a cloudy lens. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When On learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On April 9, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
She says, “I hope my surgery is successful so that I can recognize faces, I can walk outside by myself, and I can help my family to do work at home.”
