Sue is a 31-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her parents, niece, and son in a refugee camp in Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand. Her niece and son go to school. Sue is a homemaker and helps her parents with selling items from a small shop they run from their home.
Since July 2025, Sue has been experiencing some swelling and discomfort in her lower abdomen. She has been diagnosed with a large right ovarian cyst. Her physicians advised that she undergo an oophorectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her ovaries.
Fortunately, Sue is scheduled to undergo her oophorectomy on September 24th. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,005 to cover the total cost of her procedure and care. Once recovered, Sue will hopefully live more comfortably.
Sue said, “At first, I was scared to receive the operation because I worried that, in the future, I could not have a baby. But my husband and my parents encouraged me to receive it.”
