Bertha is a mother of three from Malawi. She lives with her husband and three young children on a small farm. Bertha spends her days caring for her home and family. In her free time, she likes to spend quality time with her children, chatting and playing games.
Since 2016, Bertha has had an umbilical hernia. This hernia causes Bertha pain and tenderness in her abdomen, which makes caring for her home and family difficult Fortunately, on November 2, she will undergo hernia repair surgery at Nkhoma Hospital, our medical partner’s care center.
Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting $334 to fund Bertha’s surgery. The requested money pays for supplies, medications, and six nights of hospital stay. Bertha was thrilled to find out she would have a fully funded surgery, and she is eager to get back to her young children and play with them the way she was able to before she developed her hernia.
