Kenneth is a 22-year-old man from Uganda. He lives with his mother, who is his primary source of support after his father died several years ago. He is the youngest of four children, but sadly two of his siblings have passed away, leaving only Kenneth and one surviving sibling. Although he attended school and reached Primary Four, he was forced to discontinue his education because of epilepsy. Today, Kenneth and his mother operate a small business that helps them earn an income and meet their basic needs. The earnings are modest and are used primarily for food, household expenses, and managing Kenneth’s ongoing health needs.
For more than fourteen years, Kenneth has been living with a swelling behind his ear. Over time, the swelling has gradually become more troublesome. Whenever the swelling becomes irritated, he is often unable to work or concentrate on any activity because of the discomfort. He experiences persistent itching around the area, frequent headaches, and significant pain that interferes with his daily life. For years, Kenneth's mother has done everything she can to help manage his symptoms, regularly purchasing pain medication to provide relief. Unfortunately, his condition has worsened, and the painkillers that once helped no longer provide adequate relief. The headaches and discomfort have become more frequent, affecting both his well-being and his ability to earn a living.
Kenneth was diagnosed with a lipoma, a growth of fatty tissue beneath the skin. He needs to undergo surgery to address his symptoms and improve his quality of life. On September 1st, Kenneth will undergo surgery, and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $153 to fund this procedure and alleviate his symptoms.
Kenneth says, “I hope to get rid of frequent headaches and also resume my daily duties after recovery.”
