Peninah is a 36-year-old mother of four children in Kenya. Peninah separated from her husband some years back, and she has been the sole-caregiver of her children, through selling vegetables in a greengrocery. All her four children are school-going.
In the year 2000, Peninah was involved in an accident and broke her leg. She underwent fracture surgery, and in 2021 the surgical plates were removed. About a week ago, she started experiencing pain and weakness in the affected leg but since she did not have funds to go to hospital, she stayed home. However, her mother, who witnessed her suffering, made the decision to bring her to our medical partner’s care center, Nazareth Hospital.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Peninah receive treatment. On April 15th, surgeons at Nazareth Hospital will perform an open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) to alleviate the pain and prevent further complications, providing her with greater mobility. Now, Peninah needs help to fund this $1,049 procedure.
Peninah says: “My children are dependent on me, yet I could not even get transport money to come to the hospital. I kindly request for your help, so that I can heal and continue supporting my family.”
