Tumwebaze is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. She is a widow with three children.
Five years ago, Tumwebaze began to experience troubling symptoms, including a progressive anterior neck swelling. This caused shortness of breath with difficulty swallowing and speaking. She was diagnosed with a goiter. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Tumwebaze receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on January 4 at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $240, and she and her family need help raising money.
Tumwebaze says, “I will be grateful when my condition is treated and I will continue with farming for the good care of my children.”
