Moeun is a 67-year-old man with three sons, three daughters, and five grandchildren. He likes to cook for monks, read books on Buddhism, and clean around the pagoda.
Five years ago, Moeun developed a cataract in each eye, causing him blurred vision, irritation, cloudy lenses, and extreme sensitivity to light. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, working, and going anywhere independently.
When Moeun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for one hour seeking treatment. On November 22, doctors performed a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, Moeun will be able to see clearly again. Now, he needs help to fund this $292 procedure.
“I hope my eyes can see everything more clearly,” he says, “so that I can recognize the faces of everyone, read easily, and work at the pagoda. I also want to be able to go anywhere outside by myself.”
