At 11 years old, Ruth has already exhibited unbelievable determination and perseverance. She suffered severe burns two years ago, when her cousin forgot to blow out a candle in their shared bedroom. It ignited a mosquito net, catching the entire room on fire.
Ruth’s father rescued both girls, but Ruth’s burns were so serious that it took months for her to recover.
Despite missing a full term of school, Ruth shines as a student and has earned the number three position in her class! Her biggest complaint is that the scarring on her right hand makes it difficult to write. With determination to not get behind in class, Ruth taught herself to write with her left hand.
A $1000 surgery, along with physiotherapy, can to help restore Ruth’s mobility. It will not only enable her to write normally again, but to get dressed and bathe herself - two other basic functions she lost in the accident.
Let’s help Ruth get back to normal life!
