Robert is a 42-year-old driver from Uganda. He is a dedicated father of four daughters, all of whom are currently in school. Determined and hardworking, he understood early on that success would depend on his resilience. After school, he took up work as a turn-boy on vehicles. Thanks to his discipline, patience, and trustworthiness, his employer eventually trained him as a long-distance taxi driver and later entrusted him with his taxi. Together with his wife, who engages in small-scale farming, they have managed to provide for their family and support their children’s education.
About four years ago, Robert noticed a swelling on his face. Initially painless and seemingly harmless, the swelling gradually worsened, leading to intermittent headaches, localized numbness, and an increasing size that has since become a major concern. Seeking medical attention, he underwent a scan, which revealed a facial ganglionic cyst. Doctors recommended excision surgery to remove the cyst. However, due to financial constraints, Robert is unable to raise the required funds for the surgery and is now appealing for support. He hopes to regain his health and continue providing for his family.
Robert traveled to our medical partner’s care center, Karoli Lwanga Hospital, to receive treatment. On August 5th, surgeons will remove the mass. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $137 to fund this procedure.
Robert says, “At first, I never minded it because it was never painful, but with time, it started causing symptoms in that I at times get blurred vision while driving, which I fear will one day make me cause an accident. I request your support for the success of my surgery.”
