Brain is three years old. He lives with his parents in Kenya. Brain has been experiencing urinary difficulty since he was born. This has been a source of frustration for both Brain and his parents.
When he was born, Brain’s parents were advised to seek assistance for his condition right away. Since then, the family has visited several hospitals. In every instance, they have been asked for more money than they can afford. If Brain does not receive treatment, he risks becoming impotent and facing social stigma for the rest of his life.
Recently, our medical partner’s care center, Bethany Kids Kijabe Hospital, sent out a mobile clinic team to visit Kibwezi. Luckily, Brain was seen by the team and was referred to visit the hospital.
The doctors at Bethany Kids recommend a surgery as soon as possible to rectify Brain’s condition. His surgery is scheduled for May 30. Brain’s family was thrilled to have found a potential solution for their son.
Brain’s parents work hard to provide for their children and are hopeful that Brain will receive the necessary funding for his treatment. Brain’s treatment will cost $700. His family is appealing to Watsi for financial assistance.
Brain’s mother says, “I am afraid this condition may affect my son. I want to be done with it.”
