Doung is an 83-year-old man with seven sons and thirty grandchildren. He likes to listen to monks pray on the radio and join ceremonies at the pagoda.
One month ago, Doung developed a cataract in each eye, causing him blurred vision, cloudy lenses, and extreme sensitivity to light. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, working, and going anywhere outside.
When Doung learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On January 4, doctors performed a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, Doung will be able to see clearly again. Now, he needs help to fund this $292 procedure.
“I hope to be able to see more clearly,” says Doung, “because I want to go to the pagoda by myself.”
