Beatrice is 45 years old and a mother of two from Malawi. She is a widow and sells second-hand clothing to support her family. Through determination and hard work, she managed to sustain her household despite many challenges. However, a long battle with uterine fibroids has now left her fighting not only for her livelihood but also for her health and survival. Before her illness, Beatrice enjoyed an active and productive life. She took pride in her small business and supported herself through her daily efforts. In 2013, Beatrice started to experience heavy bleeding, severe headaches, and persistent back pain. The symptoms progressively worsened, causing great concern and affecting her quality of life. Seeking medical help, Beatrice visited a hospital, where a scan revealed uterine fibroids. She underwent a myomectomy to remove the fibroids, offering relief from her symptoms. For nearly ten years, she lived comfortably and continued supporting herself through her business. Unfortunately, in 2024, her symptoms returned. She was bleeding heavily, causing her severe anemia. She required a blood transfusion to bring her back to health. Doctors determined that a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy (TAH) would be the most appropriate treatment to address her condition and prevent potentially fatal complications permanently. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,363 to fund Beatrice's surgery. On August 19th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center. Once recovered, Beatrice will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Beatrice shared, "Your support will be highly appreciated to save my life."

Sokkhy is a 58-year-old cashew farmer from Cambodia. He is married and lives in Kampong Cham Province with his wife, who is also a cashew farmer. They have three children, all of whom are married and live in nearby villages. In his free time, he enjoys chatting and drinking tea with his friends in the village. On July 23, 2026, Sokkhy fell from a height and sustained a fracture of his right hip (right femoral neck fracture). He initially sought treatment from a traditional Khmer medicine practitioner, but his condition did not improve. He continues to experience severe pain in his right hip and is unable to stand or walk without assistance. He currently relies on a wheelchair for mobility, which prevents him from returning to his farm and carrying out his daily activities independently. Sokkhy will receive a hip hemi-arthoplasty to help address this issue. A hip hemi-arthoplasty is a partial hip replacement that involves replacing half of the hip joint. Hopefully, this procedure will help Sokkhy move without discomfort. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, evaluated Sokkhy and can perform a hip hemi-arthoplasty on August 4th. This will help relieve Sokkhy of his pain and allow him to walk more easily. His family can contribute $100, but needs help to raise $612 more to fund his procedure and care. Sokkhy said, “I hope this surgery will relieve my pain and help me walk again so I can return to my daily life and take care of my family without depending on others.”

Baby Desta is a seven-month-old girl who lives in Ethiopia with her parents and two older brothers. She is active, cheerful, and loves smiling. Her father works as a daily laborer, while her mother is a homemaker. Despite limited income, her parents remain committed to fulfilling their children’s needs. Baby Desta was born with a condition called Hirschprung's disease. This is where a portion of the intestine does not have proper nerve function, causing bowel dysfunction. When she was about two weeks old, Baby Desta’s abdomen started to swell, prompting her mother to bring her to a health center. At the health center, the family was referred to a higher-level hospital. Baby Desta was admitted to the hospital, and doctors advised that she would require surgery to remove the affected part of the bowel, or she would continue to have symptoms and be at risk of serious complications. This greatly concerned her parents, who worried they could not afford treatment. Thankfully, after a long and stressful journey through multiple health facilities, the family was referred to our medical partner’s care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre. Baby Desta will undergo surgery on November 2nd. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,500 to cover the cost of the procedure and related medical care.
