Thamanda is a retired civil servant from Malawi. He lives with his wife and children. He enjoys listening to football games and spiritual songs in his free time. He attends church and enjoys reading the Bible.
Since last year, Thamanda has been experiencing troubling urinary symptoms. These symptoms are caused by an enlarged prostate, a condition called benign prostatic hyperplasia. He needs to undergo a prostate resection surgery, a procedure in which surgeons will remove part of the enlarged gland.
Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting $733 to fund Thamanda’s surgery. On November 1, he will undergo prostate surgery at Nkhoma Hospital, our medical partner’s care center. The requested money pays for supplies, medications, and two weeks of hospital stay. He is so happy to be helped with surgery and confident that he will be cured.
He says, “I went to several hospitals for consultation, but could not afford to pay for the recommended treatment. With this problem, I could not go anywhere or work on my farm. Now I will be free to go everywhere, to work, and to visit friends.”
