“I need to be able to continue with my weaving and cultivation,” shares Kesiime, a 41-year-old woman from Uganda.
Kesiime is a 41-year-old single mother of two children. Though she works as hard as she can to earn money by weaving and small-scale farming, Kesiime still has difficulty making ends meet for her kids.
Because of her financial troubles, Kesiime has not been able to seek professional treatment for a medical issue that has bothered her for a long time.
Over the past ten years, a large swelling has grown at the back of her neck. The growth has been diagnosed as a lipoma, meaning it is likely non-cancerous, but it causes Kesiime serious discomfort and makes it hard for her to move her neck. Because of the pain, she is no longer able to work at the same pace, endangering her small family’s only income source.
Kesiime cannot afford the lipoma removal surgery that her doctors have recommended—but that doesn’t mean she should have to go without treatment. For $187, we can fund her operation (set to take place on August 8), as well as the necessary lab tests and three-day hospital stay.
“When I receive my treatment, I hope to regain my peace of mind,” Kesiime says. Your donation will help her achieve that.
